The stark hand

The stark handIt is an artificial hand which is specially design for NASA. It moves easily and works like an electronic hand. The story behind the invention is like this:

A boy named Dave Vogt, when born has not his left hand by nature. A scientist Stark created an electronic hand for him and the hand has three knuckles (Which have a joint of a finger when the fist is closed). These knuckles can be bent according to the wish of the Vogt and he may catch the things easily. Interesting thing is that the Vogt may open all of his fingers freely by the moment of his shoulder that triggers a lever to extract. This artificial hand is really magical, because the Vogt may grip an egg with politeness and as well as drag a heavy chair.

When Vogt used this hand a ball is thrown towards him, he caught the ball with his artificial hand and certified that he is no more disabled and may do his work like a normal person.

A company named Edison Nation helps the inventors to develop their ideas selected the electronic hand for commercial production.

Dynamic eye sunglasses

Dynamic eye sunglassesWhen a doctor Chris Mullin used to go to his laboratory 35 miles away from his house, the sunrays directly hit his eyes. The high penetrating rays cause headaches and give him trouble to see properly. Thus he decided to make a sunglass that may block the sunrays and protect his eyes. In 2002 he got a chance to work over his idea.

As lens material, he used a liquid crystal. The liquid crystal doesn’t give any obstruction to see through as a sunglass lens. Then he added a sensor on the bridge of the nose which finds limelight and gives a signal to a microcontroller attached nearby. The microcontroller reacts and gives instruction to the liquid-crystal lens to produce a 6 mm black square in front of the eyes to block the limelight. Surprisingly the square moves with the glass wearer to block the source of limelight at all the angles, but still gives a gap on the surroundings to let see properly.

Mullin is now developing an elastically plastic-based LCD, so that the product may be lighter and damage proof to sale in market on commercial scale.

The U.S Air Force has appreciated Mullin work and has funded in his project. Now he is working on developing a sunglass for soldiers & fighter pilots. Mullin claims that troops may go in high-noon sun onto the other place without any harm in illumination. The sight of the sunglass wearer will not be damaged. They may be able to see at the very moment after walking into sun. The scientist doctor making a plan to sell the idea to any of the big manufacturer of sunglass, so that they produce this Dynamic Eye shades commercially.

Are you intended to save the energy of your car headlight, then wait for a little time? The big car company BMM is going to introduce laser headlights very soon. The company claims that these headlights will save energy in comparison to the normal headlights. To overcome the bad affects of the laser, which may be harmful for the passenger coming from the opposite sides, the lights produced by laser will be softened. The company is trying to pass the white light through fluorescent phosphor material in the headlight. The light which will come out from headlight will be bright and cool, giving no hazardous effect to the eyes of animals and human being coming in the range of this laser light. It will produce a huge intensity than LEO lights and safe a lot of energy.

A large number of accidents occur when there is weak visibility and foggy situation takes place in the bad weather. The scientists of Bologna University, it a ly produced a modern device which will solve this problem and will save human life from collisions. This device will offer a communication to the approaching cars and deliver warning when ever any accident will take place. The warning system will be attached with an active sensor on dashboard; it will detect the accident when it takes place. Toyota is installing this system on the roads in Los Angeles. Surely this wireless device will save the human lives. The system will warm others about road blocks and slippery conditions.

A camera with magical fiction is going to be launched in the last of this year by a company “Lytro” based in California. Often we faced a confusion when we photograph then came to know that the focus was not then came to know that the focus was not appropriate. We think the result of the snap will not be satisfied in camera technology has been made and you will never face this problem again. Now you may adjust the focus after taking the snap. Only you have to readjust the focus in the photo on the foreground, or background objects. You may adjust it in this way that all the objects come in a nice focus.

Ordinary cameras accumulates all the light rays to one point, but the new camera records the color, the power and its imaginary line position of the light position of the light rays differently, hence permitted the data to be done nicely by the software which mounted with strength in the camera.

In Georgian tech in USA scientist are trying to develop a new type of fuel cell which functions on coal gas. From coal gas is made and then the coal gas is used in the fuel cells. Scientists are claiming that by these fuel cells they may produce electricity with less expenditure. This electricity will be more efficient. The procedure of operating this fuel cell in like this the cell convert chemical energy into electrical energy which can be further used for different purposes. There are different kinds of fuel cells, for example hydrogen cells that produce electricity by oxidizing hydrogen with oxygen to make water from this process electrical energy generates. The electrical energy generated by these cells will be cheaper in comparison to the energy generated by turbines and thermal processes.

Solar PowerA great scientist claims that the solar energy will lead entirely in future. That will be a great need of this planet in the next coming 20 years. Now we could imagine our self the importance of this valuable energy, because we are now in disaster and facing energy crises. The reservoirs of gas, coal and petroleum is going to be empty. At last we have to search the substitute of it.

There is 10,000 times more sunlight than we need to meet 100 percent of our energy needs and the technology needed for collecting and storing it is about to emerge as the field of solar energy is going to advance.

Solar to compete in the next five years

At this time we have not any big planning for accumulating the solar and wind energy. But after seeing the statics of the future, we are serious and doing a valuable research and planning to store these energies. At present supply about 1 percent of the world’s energy needs, but advances in technology are about to expand with the introduction of nano-engineered materials for solar panel  making them more efficient, lighter and easier to install and take the demanding  benefits.

The researchers said that we are not that far away from a tipping point where energy from solar will be economically competitive with fossil fuels and   it could happen in the next 5 years.

In this connection other technologies which will be helpful are solar concentrators, made of huge mirrors that absorb very large amount of sunlight onto a small steam turbine. The energy can be stored by using nano-engineered fuel cells which will be available in the market soon.

You could create hydrogen or hydrogen-based fuels from the energy produced by solar panels and then use that to create for fuel cells.

Other troublesome challenges

Experts think that facing the energy challenge and the other troublesome challenges of the 21st century is simply important to our survival on this planet. Other challenges are:

1-         To clean water.

2-         Producing better medicines.

3-         Securing cyberspace.

4-         Improvement in practical reality.

The big and useful inventions gave us the green revolution that increased the production of food   as world population grew. The distribution of safe water and electricity, improved health generated an upgraded standard of living for everyone.

However, now the world faces some dark results of these advancements which are the threat of a security disaster, if nuclear and biological weapons fall into the wrong and fanatic hands.

More solutions to upcoming challenges

Other tech solutions for the new century’s big challenges include:

1-         Proper monitoring of nuclear weapons components to prevent them from getting in the hands of fanatic.

2-         Make an advance in rapid responses to possible bio-weapons attacks.

3-         Advances in genetic engineering to address the problem of drug-resistant viruses and bacteria, and to create personalized medicine.

4-         Purification of water to meet the demand of shortage of drinking healthy water.

The policy which will be run in the 21st century challenges plan, reveal a more enlightened understanding of role of science and technology in general. This idea is being developed in the context of a globalized world, even though the proposals have been developed in world.

Now a US company designs a new type of wind turbine and have taken its idea from the jet engine turbines.  The blades which are smaller in size generates more amount of power due to the shroud, which directs the air through the blades, hence increases the total output power. Toyota Prius have developed an electronic brain with the help of Google. Hundreds of sensors are installed in this fantastic and magic car, which runs on the roads of California without intervention of any human being.  This automatic car will carry sensors and laser range to avoid collisions of moving or stationary objects. The car will follow the road signals very nicely. This wondrous car is design and conceived by a brilliant engineer and the director of Stanford Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, Mr. Thurn.

Glowing tree

The gold nanoparticles make the tree to glow with a reddish luminescence. The gold nanoparticles were allowed to scatter into the leaves of a plant, which caused the chlorophyll of the plant to produce a reddish glow. It is believe that the development may lead to such trees which could be used as street lights. Their reddish luminescence will make an excellent and magical look and beautify the streets.

The kit costs fewer than 3,000 dollars while you can adjust it by experts for another 4,000 dollars. Whereas full enclosed version will be of 20,000 dollars. What about the fuel consumption? Very less; you can fly this machine up to 90 kilometers in five gallons only!

Recently car show held in Paris 2010, a Jaguar revealed the concept electrical car. The Jaguar C-X75 can run up to the speed of 62 mph only in 3.4 seconds. This new car is powered by four motors installed on each wheel. The car has a range of 560 miles.
